Mumbai's most awaited dream of getting AC local train comes LIVE !!!

2017 Christmas, Mumbai Cheers ! As it gets first AC local train.

The long awaited Mumbai AC local train dream is about to come true finally.  

Yesterday 24th Dec 2017, Piyush Goyal Railway Minister mentioned in his tweet that Mumbai's first AC suburban train service will be launched tomorrow. The train will ply from Churchgate to Virar.  The AC local will be launched with a modern & fresh look, reflecting the sprint of Mumbai.

Today, the fully air-conditioned 12-coach train started it's first journey from Borivali at 10.30 am. Initially the train will run between Borivali and Churchgate and will be extended up-to Virar shortly. It has capacity to carry around 6000 commuters,

It has lots of new features compared to standard Mumbai local like fully air conditioned, auto door closure, calling system to gaurd, RPF in every coach, 2 coaches (1st and 12th) reserved for ladies, spacious etc.

You may also be able to move inside the train between the coaches.

Fare will be little higher than existing 1st class local fair i.e by around 1.2 - 1.3 times

12 AC local trains services may have.

• 8 Fast Trains may run between Virar and Churchgate stopping at major stations like Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Borivali, Bhayander & Vasai Road in both directions,
• 3 fast trains may run between Churchgate and Borivali stopping at Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra and Andheri stations in both directions. 
• 1 slow service of the AC local will run between Mahalaxmi to Borivali.
